The Algasism EP devices is a seismic restraint with hysteretic elasto-plastic response capable of controlingl the horizontal force level and of dissipating energy due to the earthquake.
The Algasism EP device fulfils the following requirements:

Guarantees the structure fixity for horizontal service load forces by an elastic response
In case of significant earthquakes it limits the reaction force and dissipates energy by hysteretic behaviour
Guarantees a stable response characteristic during a dynamic response with no cycle deterioration

The EP devices have the following advantages:

- Very simple maintenance because all the structural parts are made of steel
Possibility of controlling the horizontal force transmitted from the superstructure to the substructure
- Reaction characteristic is very simple (bilinear) and stable with no temperature dependence
- After a catastrophic earthquake only the elements that dissipate energy by plasticization must be replaced with no damage to other components of the structure
