Cable stayed bridges are the ideal solution to medium and large spans of one or more hundred metres.
ALGA group has operated in the field of cable stayed bridges for over 30 years, designing the first cable stays in 1976, when we produced and installed the stay cables of the first long cable stayed bridge built in Italy, the Indiano Bridge of 206 m in Florence.
Afterwards ALGA designed and produced a new system of stay cables AL 200 (patent pending) that, in addition to the primary requirements of static and dynamic efficiency, allows the assembling of the stay cable on site, pushing or pulling the unbonded strands directly through the anchorage, using special connections which hermetically seal both the anchorages and the strands. This solution, besides making the strand installation easier, allows the formation of a bundle of parallel strands individually encased in a HDPE pipe sealed from one anchorage to the other one, assuring, in this way, a better protection against corrosion, the possibility of individual tensioning, the possibility of avoiding stay cable grouting and the possibility of changing the strands one at a time.
